There I am, each Sunday morning,<\/p>\n
underwired and high-healed hurting,<\/p>\n
and it doesn\u2019t matter to God a bit, at all.<\/p>\n
just don\u2019t flop, just don\u2019t fall,<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t be human.<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t be small.<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t notice the whispers<\/p>\n
that don\u2019t whisper at all<\/p>\n
about how short I\u2019ll always be.<\/p>\n
Never big enough for their decree–<\/p>\n
But theirs ain\u2019t the approval<\/p>\n
that matters to me.<\/p>\n
and for goodness sake,<\/p>\n
don\u2019t eat eggs in the morning<\/p>\n
\u2018cause when you kneel for forgiveness,<\/p>\n
then without warning,<\/p>\n
your \u2018silent prayer\u2019 echoes<\/p>\n
up to the rafters<\/p>\n
And if you can\u2019t laugh now,<\/p>\n
they\u2019ll all laugh after.<\/p>\n
But God has heard it all.<\/p>\n
Seen it too.<\/p>\n
When you step from the shower,<\/p>\n
He\u2019s there with you.<\/p>\n
Standard issue.<\/p>\n
Standard parts.<\/p>\n
All the same, down to burps and farts.<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t be so shocked.<\/p>\n
God formed them all.<\/p>\n
Views every soul naked\u2014<\/p>\n
dirty or clean.<\/p>\n
There isn\u2019t a bit<\/p>\n
He hasn\u2019t seen.<\/p>\n
We fall face down<\/p>\n
before God\u2019s glory<\/p>\n
so don\u2019t bother repeatin\u2019<\/p>\n
my tired old story<\/p>\n
that\u2019s worse than yours,<\/p>\n
with all my old behavior–<\/p>\n
Ain\u2019t none of us perfect;<\/p>\n
