I<\/span>t all starts <\/span><\/p>\n

in 20 minutes;<\/span><\/p>\n

watching the clock<\/span><\/p>\n

my breath, electric,<\/span><\/p>\n

waiting for the spark,<\/span><\/p>\n

the signal.<\/span><\/p>\n

What will I write?<\/span><\/p>\n

What will I discover<\/span><\/p>\n

of myself,<\/span><\/p>\n

heart-felt,<\/span><\/p>\n

jagged,<\/span><\/p>\n

soul-rending,<\/span><\/p>\n

flat-lined,<\/span><\/p>\n

whispering–<\/span><\/p>\n

or screaming like a banshee.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019ll know soon enough,<\/span><\/p>\n

the clock taps cadence;<\/span><\/p>\n

I march in step<\/span><\/p>\n

for 24 miles<\/span><\/p>\n

the finish draws near;<\/span><\/p>\n

only one third an hour<\/span><\/p>\n

to spill the words out,<\/span><\/p>\n

over the dam<\/span><\/p>\n

into the flow,<\/span><\/p>\n

the great river<\/span><\/p>\n

of thought,<\/span><\/p>\n

ideas,<\/span><\/p>\n

concepts,<\/span><\/p>\n

misconceptions.<\/span><\/p>\n

exhaustion tracks beside me,<\/span><\/p>\n

sprinting ahead at times,<\/span><\/p>\n

leaving me dusted,<\/span><\/p>\n

road-worn,,<\/span><\/p>\n

alone with my pillow.<\/span><\/p>\n

But I\u2019m making a comeback;<\/span><\/p>\n

Barely time remains,<\/span><\/p>\n

Sprint for 20 minutes more.<\/span><\/p>\n
