{"id":143151,"date":"2023-09-03T08:02:37","date_gmt":"2023-09-03T12:02:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=143151"},"modified":"2023-09-03T08:02:37","modified_gmt":"2023-09-03T12:02:37","slug":"the-restaurant-of-poetry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/the-restaurant-of-poetry\/","title":{"rendered":"The Restaurant of Poetry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hour Twenty-Three<\/p>\n<p>My brain is pudding<br \/>\na casserole of deliberation<br \/>\ncharbroiled musings<br \/>\na culinary art.<br \/>\nA souffle of hapless meanderings<br \/>\nsticking to the bottom of<br \/>\nthe deadpan stare of a sleep-deprived wordsmith.<br \/>\nI take the spatula of resolve<br \/>\nand chisel away at metaphors-<br \/>\nwith eyes glazed over<br \/>\nthe sweetness of sentiments<br \/>\nand the salty brine of experience.<br \/>\nMy verse becomes gelatinous gravy<br \/>\nsmothering the carefully prepared meal<br \/>\nin a swarthy succulent and savory condiment<br \/>\na condemnation of palate.<br \/>\nMy humor presented upon<br \/>\na poo poo platter<br \/>\nof nonsensical imagery&#8230;<br \/>\nbut in all my serious kneading<br \/>\nof the dough, baked, and left to cool<br \/>\nupon the fresh morning air-<br \/>\nI find I mourn the loss of words<br \/>\nas my audience takes bite-sized portions of me<br \/>\nin exchange for the full meal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hour Twenty-Three My brain is pudding a casserole of deliberation charbroiled musings a culinary art.
