A block-sized wonder<\/p>\n
Over a hundred years old<\/p>\n
Thought to be lost.<\/p>\n
In the deadly fire.<\/p>\n
It’s branches black.<\/p>\n
Its trunk dark and lifeless.<\/p>\n
As the endless stream.<\/p>\n
of sad stories and<\/p>\n
deep loss<\/p>\n
bombarded us every day,<\/p>\n
some experts decided to try to save it.<\/p>\n
They watered it, fed it<\/p>\n
Babied it, cherished it<\/p>\n
Three weeks later,<\/p>\n
signs of life surge through the trunk<\/p>\n
New saplings grow from old, lifeless branches<\/p>\n
Hope is a tree<\/p>\n
In the center of Lahaina Town<\/p>\n
Doing it’s damnedest<\/p>\n
to bring hope<\/p>\n
to a town broken in pain and loss.<\/p>\n
Hope in the form of a tree.<\/p>\n
