He’s gone back to school<\/p>\n
pursuing welding<\/p>\n
and he’s still making his art<\/p>\n
as unhinged as ever<\/p>\n
when his son asks to talk to the mother<\/p>\n
he doesn’t fight it<\/p>\n
even though she traded him for substances<\/p>\n
and she makes no attempts<\/p>\n
he wants him to make whatever decision he will<\/p>\n
to form his own opinions about his family<\/p>\n
his kid, to him, isn’t a weapon<\/p>\n
or a bargaining chip<\/p>\n
but a fully formed being needing a little guidance<\/p>\n
there are those who say I’m not ready to be a dad<\/p>\n
because mine left before I was born<\/p>\n
to them I point out men like this<\/p>\n
who are better fathers<\/p>\n
