{"id":144641,"date":"2023-09-04T08:27:38","date_gmt":"2023-09-04T12:27:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=144641"},"modified":"2023-09-04T08:27:54","modified_gmt":"2023-09-04T12:27:54","slug":"24-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2023\/09\/24-14\/","title":{"rendered":"24 \/ Hope Sonnet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hope Sonnet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If I could write a poem today with hope<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d fit in all the trees and birds and bears\u2014<\/p>\n<p>all animals, the skies and seas and air,<\/p>\n<p>republicans, the middles, and the woke<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>would have their places too, and right beside<\/p>\n<p>them all are you and I and puffer fish<\/p>\n<p>and coral reefs, the nudibranch and nudist.<\/p>\n<p>Ebbing, high, or slack: it takes all tides<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>to plump up where the moon is.\u00a0 Here\u2019s the thing:<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re screwed. We\u2019re doomed. We\u2019re toast. We\u2019ve effing ruined it.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody\u2019s coming.
