Old ways<\/p>\n
When does this really stop?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
You forgive yourself and<\/p>\n
Others time and time again<\/p>\n
And still there is a lesson<\/p>\n
To be learnt<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
When it rears its ugly head<\/p>\n
Discipline, planning and calculations<\/p>\n
Doesn\u2019t set the scene to stop the old ways<\/p>\n
They creep up on you<\/p>\n
When you least expect it<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
There are some behaviours<\/p>\n
You can say good bye to<\/p>\n
Yet other ones the insidious ones<\/p>\n
The more subtle ones can be hidden<\/p>\n
Suddenly rushing to the surface<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A wave hits you and then another<\/p>\n
Then suddenly that hidden hell<\/p>\n
You try to avoid is back alive and well<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A mocking laugh<\/p>\n
A loud \u2018I told you so!\u2019<\/p>\n
Is ringing in my ears<\/p>\n
How do I get this to stop?<\/p>\n
I sit there feeling small and vulnerable<\/p>\n
Curled up in a ball<\/p>\n
I pray silently for it to stop<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Then all of a sudden the waves stop crashing<\/p>\n
And the voice stops ringing in my ears<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I feel the sun licking on my cheeks<\/p>\n
I taste the salt in my mouth<\/p>\n
It\u2019s not the residue of the waves<\/p>\n
But the tears streaming down my cheeks<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I look up to the sky and I feel a<\/p>\n
Warm embrace<\/p>\n
A gentle stroking of my hair and<\/p>\n
A soft whisper<\/p>\n
