Gulls scatter erratic,<\/p>\n
like plastic bags estranged<\/p>\n
in air current<\/p>\n
over the ferris wheel.<\/p>\n
A wind peaceful<\/p>\n
of lake, wind in<\/p>\n
my veins, or rather<\/p>\n
winded, bone-terse<\/p>\n
& skin-brittle<\/p>\n
from cold cloaked<\/p>\n
in summer’s peeling.<\/p>\n
the dog days razing<\/p>\n
a burnt lintel of wither<\/p>\n
& aimless want<\/p>\n
on my back.<\/p>\n
I follow the lead<\/p>\n
of wandering color,<\/p>\n
sporadic in disposition,<\/p>\n
neon memories buckled to<\/p>\n
bleak nights where I hold<\/p>\n
quiet & clamor each in a palm.<\/p>\n
My eyes elevated to<\/p>\n
a bruised sprawl of sky<\/p>\n
until my muse drifts<\/p>\n
to you, red security shirt<\/p>\n
& a scraggly-toothed smile.<\/p>\n
I buy a ticket & hold onto<\/p>\n
the search for you<\/p>\n
at every rotation<\/p>\n
