In silence we sit,
\nfeeding off the energy of each other,
\nno words spoken,
\nno words needed,
\nwords complicate things,
\nso many words to our relationship,
\nmany descriptors,
\n“I don’t like labels,”
\nbut other people do,
\nand same-sex love is labeled,
\nregulated as:<\/p>\n

lesbian,
\ngay,
\nbisexual,
\ndisgusting,
\nabomination,
\ndeserving of death,
\npeople say,
\nkill the fags,
\nrape the dykes,<\/p>\n

and here we sit,
\n“I forget where we were” because of all the talking,<\/p>\n

I yearn\u00a0to hold your hand,
\nI’d risk it all to remember “where we were,”
\nI use one finger to trace yours,
\nyour finger locks with mine,
\na second finger,
\nall five lock,
\na smile crosses your face,<\/p>\n
