I came to work one day and<\/em><\/del><\/p>\n

I was excited about the piece I was going to teach.<\/em><\/p>\n

I was getting in the flow when<\/em><\/del><\/p>\n

In the middle of class<\/del><\/p>\n

A student raised his hand<\/p>\n

and asked, “Why we gotta learn about this?”<\/p>\n

We were reading a piece\u00a0by Dr. Martin Luther King<\/p>\n

And the other students looked to me for my re<\/em>ply.<\/del><\/p>\n

His attitude about the subject matter<\/em><\/p>\n

Was trying to throw off my flow.<\/em><\/p>\n

And I thought to myself\u00a0<\/del><\/p>\n

It’s such a shame that good authors<\/p>\n

Receive no respect this days.<\/p>\n

I was tempted to brush him off and go on with the lesson<\/del><\/p>\n

But instead I broke it down for him<\/p>\n

Telling him things to spark his imagination\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

All the while finding my flow once again<\/em><\/del><\/p>\n

And went on with my lesson.<\/del><\/p>\n

Taking pride that I was able to use this moment<\/em><\/p>\n

To shape and influence a young mind.<\/em><\/p>\n
