{"id":21821,"date":"2016-08-13T15:44:15","date_gmt":"2016-08-13T19:44:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=21821"},"modified":"2016-08-13T15:44:15","modified_gmt":"2016-08-13T19:44:15","slug":"listen-to-me","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/listen-to-me\/","title":{"rendered":"Listen To Me"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Can you hear me?<\/p>\n<p>I said, can you HEAR me?<\/p>\n<p>No, can you hear ME?<\/p>\n<p>CAN you hear me?<\/p>\n<p>Can YOU hear me?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You complain that I get over-dramatic<\/p>\n<p>But you wouldn&#8217;t listen to me until I did<\/p>\n<p>They say to let out your feelings and say what you mean<\/p>\n<p>But no one believes me when I use simple words<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This bothers me<\/p>\n<p>Well you can get over it<\/p>\n<p>No I mean this makes me feel like my brain is going to bleed out of my ears<\/p>\n<p>Did you have to be so over-dramatic?<\/p>\n<p>Well you didn&#8217;t listen to me when I said this was bothering me<\/p>\n<p>What more choice did I have?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I use the tools of poets and writers<\/p>\n<p>To try to force you to understand<\/p>\n<p>That I want to scratch my veins out of my arms<\/p>\n<p>That shocks of electricity are bouncing like pinball off my skull<\/p>\n<p>That crowds when they are too close make me want to scream<\/p>\n<p>That too much tension and closeness makes me want to commit acts of violence<\/p>\n<p>That unexpected noise jolts me out of my train of thought, derail me, cause me to crash the train, and it takes work to get it back on again<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Do you get it now?<\/p>\n<p>Do you understand yet?<\/p>\n<p>Can you hear me now?<\/p>\n<p>Listen to me<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m telling you everything you&#8217;ve ever needed to know<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can you hear me?
