the cool flagstone step..<\/p>\n
The sun beat me<\/p>\n
like an incessant drum.<\/p>\n
Roasting the pavement<\/p>\n
like the fires of Purgatory..<\/p>\n
I looked before me,<\/p>\n
I looked behind me,<\/p>\n
I looked to my right,<\/p>\n
I looked to my left.<\/p>\n
The Ancient of Days<\/p>\n
Who Is<\/p>\n
yesterday<\/p>\n
and today<\/p>\n
and tomorrow…<\/p>\n
tenderly gazed<\/p>\n
through the flames…<\/p>\n
waiting….<\/p>\n
for every penny<\/p>\n
to be accounted for.<\/p>\n
Not as a stern judge<\/p>\n
did He stand..<\/p>\n
but, as a kind King<\/p>\n
and as One Who<\/p>\n
Waits.<\/p>\n
Longingly.<\/p>\n
He pines for His sheep..<\/p>\n
to take them in His arms..<\/p>\n
