Cathedral<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

People bring it all to the forest:<\/p>\n

worry<\/p>\n

joy<\/p>\n

serenity<\/p>\n

grief \u2013<\/p>\n

the ready-made confessional<\/p>\n

where we<\/p>\n

whisper our sins to the ripening berries<\/p>\n

and the promiscuous bees\u2026<\/p>\n

they understand.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Each step puzzles out aches<\/p>\n

of the mind<\/p>\n

and<\/p>\n

confusions of the heart.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Wandering in and out of<\/p>\n

light and shadow<\/p>\n

in search of<\/p>\n

clarity<\/p>\n

or<\/p>\n

clear vantage points<\/p>\n

from which to view<\/p>\n

the mountain peaks<\/p>\n

or<\/p>\n

treasures hidden in valleys.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the true,<\/p>\n

what they say,<\/p>\n

we really cannot see<\/p>\n

the forest for the trees<\/p>\n

but while we are there,<\/p>\n

face to<\/p>\n

moss bearded face<\/p>\n

with these mute priests of the grove,<\/p>\n

we are contented<\/p>\n

to have the solitude,<\/p>\n

the sacred space<\/p>\n

to whisper confessions<\/p>\n

to the<\/p>\n

rose hips or<\/p>\n

spotted foliage<\/p>\n

and<\/p>\n

unfetter ourselves<\/p>\n

from care.<\/p>\n
