The vet called,
\n“I’ve got a dog for you,
\nif you want her.
\nShe just wandered in.
\nSome part Brittany Spaniel.”<\/p>\n
We called her Annie
\nfor Orphan Annie.
\nAnnie liked being petted,
\nplaying chase with the kids,
\ngoing to the lake.<\/p>\n
But, food.
\nOh, Annie LOVED food.
\nDog food.
\nCat food up on a counter.
\nAn entire bag
\nof individually wrapped
\nchocolate candies,
\nincluding the wrappers
\nand part of the bag
\nbefore we caught her.
\nHalf a watermelon,
\nincluding the rind.
\nAny
\nfood.<\/p>\n
Annie stayed for months.
\nThen one summer day
\nAnnie took off again.
\nThe vet said, “Maybe, she was just a traveler.
\nSome dogs are.
\nSay for a while.
\neat for a while.
\nand move on.”<\/p>\n
We missed you,
