My past.<\/p>\n
It wants me to wear it<\/p>\n
Like a cloak to protect me<\/p>\n
From the future.<\/p>\n
It doesn’t want me to acknowledge it.<\/p>\n
It wants me to live through it.<\/p>\n
It wants me to be it.<\/p>\n
It wants me to be everything<\/p>\n
That I was before,<\/p>\n
To hold onto and grasp it tightly<\/p>\n
Like a quilt stitched of things left behind.<\/p>\n
It doesn’t know that it is fading away.<\/p>\n
It is a memory,<\/p>\n
Nothing more than<\/p>\n
A fading ray of light.<\/p>\n
Soon, it’ll be lost<\/p>\n
In the equivalency of a dream.<\/p>\n
As the sun continues its way to rest,<\/p>\n
The grasp of past days<\/p>\n
Fall off my shoulders.<\/p>\n
My future shines on the face of the moon.<\/p>\n
I feel the rising of indigo and navy<\/p>\n
With the clustering of stars.<\/p>\n
The night surrounds me<\/p>\n
