{"id":25287,"date":"2016-08-13T21:51:28","date_gmt":"2016-08-14T01:51:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=25287"},"modified":"2016-08-13T21:52:02","modified_gmt":"2016-08-14T01:52:02","slug":"searching-for-dorothy-arnold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/searching-for-dorothy-arnold\/","title":{"rendered":"Searching for Dorothy Arnold (Hour Thirteen)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Has anyone seen Dorothy?<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Anyone at all?<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">She stood a height of five foot one to five foot four inches tall.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Her eyes were grey or blue, her hair a dark, dark brown.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">She was last seen all dressed in blue in old Manhattan Town.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">She&#8217;d been writing and sending out manuscripts,<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">She&#8217;d been meeting her love in secret,<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">She wished to move out and be independent,<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">But Daddy wouldn&#8217;t hear of it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Has anyone seen Dorothy?<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">She came from a gilded life,<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">But perhaps her soul, a writer&#8217;s soul,<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Only knew the internal strife.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">She was twenty-five years old<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">On December 12, 1910,<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">So all hope is truly lost<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Of seeing her alive again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Perhaps a lapis earring<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Will be found under floorboards one day<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">But will anyone know it was Dorothy&#8217;s?<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Is anyone left to say?<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\">\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Dorothy never came home for Christmas,<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Nor Easter in the spring,<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">Dorothy never came home at anytime,<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"LEFT\"><span style=\"font-size: medium\">And that&#8217;s the saddest thing.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Has anyone seen Dorothy?
