It began on a sunny morn in September,
\nThe 11th will be a day to remember;
\nOur lives have changed forever,
\nAs this United Nation comes together.<\/p>\n
This day started like any other,
\nI went shopping with my grandmother.
\nOthers left for work; some went to school,
\nWhere teachers tried to teach the Golden Rule.<\/p>\n
Breaking news interrupted our daily routine,
\nWe could hardly believe what was seen.
\nTwo jets crashed into the World Trade Tower,
\n8:46 A.M. Central Time was the early hour.<\/p>\n
Many people watched in horror and shock,
\nThey also listened to the ticking wall clock.
\nWhen another plane crashed into the Pentagon,
\nIt exploded in many pieces on the lawn.<\/p>\n
The world came to a dead standstill,
\nAs we searched our souls for goodwill.
\nNo TV shows or music played that day,
\nPeople stood by America, come what may.<\/p>\n
It was an emotional day for us all,
\nNews anchors wept, but we will stand tall.
\nSearch and rescue was a tedious task,
\nYet, it left unanswered questions to ask.<\/p>\n
Who committed this act of hatred and violence?
\nAmericans should not have to face the silence.
\nOf loved ones that they will never see again,
\nThis was an unspeakable act of sin.<\/p>\n
Why did tragedy strike American soil?
\nI don\u2019t know the answers, but remain loyal.
\nTo a country that has shown great pride,
\nIn honor of everyone that has died.<\/p>\n
Now our solders are fighting back,
\nFrom this unthinkably awful attack.
\nBombs have destroyed permanent structures,
\nNevertheless, our hearts will not be ruptured.<\/p>\n
As the fight for freedom rages on,
\nWe realize all hope is not gone.
\nPeople often take for granted and forget,
\nOur American pride, an extraordinary gift.<\/p>\n
