We left.<\/p>\n<p>I left.<\/p>\n<p>(And, yes, there is more<\/p>\n<p>to that story.)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What do you do<\/p>\n<p>When you leave your Promise Land?<\/p>\n<p>Is God&#8217;s glory dispersed, like a lake turned to\u00a0fog?<\/p>\n<p>Can you\u00a0taste it in your tea?<\/p>\n<p>Feel it in the curve of cup against your thumb?<\/p>\n<p>Might God call to you,<\/p>\n<p>curiously,<\/p>\n<p>through the sliding doors of the corner store&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>your burning bush by the baskets?<\/p>\n<p>Your burning bush in the sparrows bathing?<\/p>\n<p>Your burning bush in your neighbor&#8217;s humor<\/p>\n<p>or the freshly climbing sun?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I come from people who believed God speaks in dreams and visions, who went to a land God showed them &nbsp; and died there or left . . .
