I painted the room purple<\/p>\n

for betrayal<\/p>\n

angry brush strokes smashed against the wall<\/p>\n

I’m certain the neighbors heard<\/p>\n

divided allegiance<\/p>\n

because you tainted their perception<\/p>\n

of me<\/p>\n

with your lies and twisted truth<\/p>\n

oh mountains majesty<\/p>\n

a Lenten journey I did not agree to make<\/p>\n

when I signed myself with ash<\/p>\n

hung the sackcloth curtains<\/p>\n

empty belly from an imposed fast<\/p>\n

believing Good Friday is not the end<\/p>\n

and lilacs resurrect from tombs<\/p>\n

but only when its time<\/p>\n

you can’t buy lilacs at the florist<\/p>\n

I painted the room purple<\/p>\n
