{"id":26649,"date":"2016-08-14T01:39:29","date_gmt":"2016-08-14T05:39:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=26649"},"modified":"2016-08-14T01:39:29","modified_gmt":"2016-08-14T05:39:29","slug":"poem-17-you-broke-my-heart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/poem-17-you-broke-my-heart\/","title":{"rendered":"Poem 17 &#8212; You Broke My Heart"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I never wanted it to be &#8220;us&#8221;,<br \/>\nYou couldn&#8217;t let it rest.<br \/>\nYou wanted to prove to me<br \/>\nYou were my man I guess.<br \/>\nFor a few good months,<br \/>\nYou introduced me to this caring, loving man,<br \/>\nThat he was qualified to spoil me in hugs and kisses, cuddle and hold my hand.<br \/>\nHe was a sweetheart, well at least that&#8217;s what I thought,<br \/>\nI couldn&#8217;t share my secrets with you,<br \/>\nYou were unhappy and you acted like it was my fault.<br \/>\nI couldn&#8217;t be WHO I was,<br \/>\nIt was too much for you,<br \/>\nYou felt out of context if I shared my deepest experiences I went through.<br \/>\nYou didn&#8217;t know how to make me smile even when I was down,<br \/>\nOur business spreader to everyone but me, it was all over town.<br \/>\nI tried to explain to you<br \/>\nI was private, I didn&#8217;t like people feeling the need to discuss you and I.<br \/>\nYou acted like I was mean,<br \/>\nLike we weren&#8217;t grown enough for us,<br \/>\nAnd you had the audacity to feel embarrassed if I was upset and would cuss.<br \/>\nI don&#8217;t remember how we ended,<br \/>\nI just know you lied,<br \/>\nYou showed no remorse with your new woman,<br \/>\nInside I crumbled, broke down and cried.<br \/>\nAs time passes I realize I am in greater shape with myself, I portray a new part,<br \/>\nI&#8217;m not the woman you once knew,<br \/>\nI became courageous and stronger since you broke my heart. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I never wanted it to be &#8220;us&#8221;, You couldn&#8217;t let it rest.
