{"id":26932,"date":"2016-08-14T02:47:00","date_gmt":"2016-08-14T06:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=26932"},"modified":"2016-08-14T02:47:00","modified_gmt":"2016-08-14T06:47:00","slug":"eagle-or-thunderbird","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/eagle-or-thunderbird\/","title":{"rendered":"Eagle or Thunderbird?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Eagle or Thunderbird?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The nest was at the top of the mountain,<\/p>\n<p>Himalayan high,<\/p>\n<p>and built from the<\/p>\n<p>bones of my enemies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I soared above it,<\/p>\n<p>spying my young<\/p>\n<p>who needed feeding.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I thought,<\/p>\n<p>for such a long time that,<\/p>\n<p>I was an eagle<\/p>\n<p>soaring over<\/p>\n<p>the bones of my enemies,<\/p>\n<p>until I read<\/p>\n<p><em>American Gods<\/em> \u2013<\/p>\n<p>about Thunderbirds.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There was no lightening<\/p>\n<p>above these mountains,<\/p>\n<p>in my dream \u2013<\/p>\n<p>just flashes of a white feathered head<\/p>\n<p>and tail;<\/p>\n<p>soaring above those mountains,<\/p>\n<p>Himalayan high<\/p>\n<p>and built from the bones of my enemies.<\/p>\n<p>(c) R.
