My grandma<\/p>\n
Ma<\/p>\n
is what I call her<\/p>\n
not sure if that comes from my jamican poppop<\/p>\n
or what<\/p>\n
shes a solider<\/p>\n
these past years the hospital<\/p>\n
has held her more than anyone<\/p>\n
but she recently graduated<\/p>\n
received a bachelors in nursing<\/p>\n
any time I want to give up<\/p>\n
i vision her<\/p>\n
i walked in on her<\/p>\n
in the hospital<\/p>\n
i expected her to be in misery<\/p>\n
after the stroke<\/p>\n
but she was on the laptop<\/p>\n
her doctorate is what she is after now<\/p>\n
i wonder if the teacher even knows<\/p>\n
the woman getting all those papers turned in<\/p>\n
is my roll model<\/p>\n
my hero<\/p>\n
a woman of power<\/p>\n
nothing stops her<\/p>\n
i giggle at the stroke<\/p>\n
it didn’t succeed in all it’s known for<\/p>\n
i praise my God<\/p>\n
He excelled<\/p>\n
that’s usual though<\/p>\n
she has to learn how to write<\/p>\n
with her left hand<\/p>\n
i remember I was left there<\/p>\n
at the bottom of the hill<\/p>\n
in my 20s<\/p>\n
when I chose everything<\/p>\n
incorrect<\/p>\n
everything<\/p>\n
i could care less now<\/p>\n
they say a grandma’s prayers<\/p>\n
are powerful<\/p>\n
she prays for herself<\/p>\n
And I pray too<\/p>\n
i need her touch<\/p>\n
her hidden strength<\/p>\n
that bursts out in due time<\/p>\n
i love her<\/p>\n
i honor her<\/p>\n
i think of her often<\/p>\n
