{"id":28040,"date":"2016-08-14T06:39:16","date_gmt":"2016-08-14T10:39:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=28040"},"modified":"2016-08-14T06:39:16","modified_gmt":"2016-08-14T10:39:16","slug":"blue-clouds-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2016\/08\/blue-clouds-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Clouds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Blue Clouds<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Blue clouds spell<\/p>\n<p>danger<\/p>\n<p>on the Prairie,<\/p>\n<p>especially<\/p>\n<p>after the<\/p>\n<p>heat and<\/p>\n<p>the dust<\/p>\n<p>kick up a storm\u2026<\/p>\n<p>the most terrified<\/p>\n<p>I had ever been<\/p>\n<p>was<\/p>\n<p>watching in the rear view mirror<\/p>\n<p>as the<\/p>\n<p>dark blue funnel cloud came<\/p>\n<p>toward the car.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Panic gripped me<\/p>\n<p>by the throat<\/p>\n<p>and nearly squeezed<\/p>\n<p>the sense out of me \u2013<\/p>\n<p>my small children,<\/p>\n<p>strapped in car seats<\/p>\n<p>in the back;<\/p>\n<p>my mother in the medical office<\/p>\n<p>beside us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It became<\/p>\n<p>very clear,<\/p>\n<p>very quickly,<\/p>\n<p>where my priorities lay\u2026<\/p>\n<p>if that dark blue<\/p>\n<p>funnel cloud had gotten any closer,<\/p>\n<p>I would have saved my babies<\/p>\n<p>and<\/p>\n<p>driven away.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(c) R.
