Dear Lord,<\/p>\n
Let my soul be at rest once more<\/p>\n
Swallowed up in the contentment<\/p>\n
Of resting in Your arms.<\/p>\n
Please save me from the darkness<\/p>\n
That I am so easily entrapped in<\/p>\n
Stone walls towering in my mind<\/p>\n
A maze I can’t escape.<\/p>\n
The sins and fears that haunt me<\/p>\n
I face over and again<\/p>\n
The same old troubles which still stop me<\/p>\n
To the point that I’m ashamed<\/p>\n
Who is knocked down by the same monster<\/p>\n
Again and again and again?<\/p>\n
Lord, I know You’re patient with me<\/p>\n
I know You’re by my side<\/p>\n
Though I know I should rise when I’ve fallen<\/p>\n
– Sometimes I just don’t want to try.<\/p>\n
But You’re patient, kind, merciful;<\/p>\n
You’re with me,<\/p>\n
You won’t leave me here to die.<\/p>\n
Not because I try my best<\/p>\n
Or somehow earn Your smile<\/p>\n
Will You carry me through.<\/p>\n
You’ll lift me from darkness because You are faithful,<\/p>\n
Even when I’m not;<\/p>\n
That’s just what You do.<\/p>\n
So my dear God, I thank you<\/p>\n
I could never live without You.<\/p>\n
Though sometimes I still try,<\/p>\n
As I’m sometimes still a fool<\/p>\n
And old ghosts in my mind<\/p>\n
Lead me away from You.<\/p>\n
Show me how to face the monsters, God<\/p>\n
Let me see the Way<\/p>\n
Using good to overcome evil<\/p>\n
To see light brighter than the day.<\/p>\n
The brightest light of all:<\/p>\n
Please remind me that I’m loved,<\/p>\n
And help me give that love to others<\/p>\n
