{"id":2868,"date":"2014-08-23T18:28:16","date_gmt":"2014-08-23T22:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=2868"},"modified":"2014-08-23T18:28:16","modified_gmt":"2014-08-23T22:28:16","slug":"freedom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2014\/08\/freedom\/","title":{"rendered":"Freedom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There\u2019s a valley called Freedom, far away<\/p>\n<p>Hardly loyal to the name, to this day<\/p>\n<p>From the glorious peaks of the mountains<\/p>\n<p>And the bubbling music of the fountains<\/p>\n<p>Its people were slave to freedom<\/p>\n<p>And engulfed in slavery\u2019s boredom<\/p>\n<p>The river, always so revolting in its ways<\/p>\n<p>Suggested to the wind and its sways<\/p>\n<p>They conspired against the bounds invisible<\/p>\n<p>Bring them to light, make them visible<\/p>\n<p>An earthbound, god-fearing<\/p>\n<p>Gave birth to a girl daring<\/p>\n<p>The grasslands and forever running fields<\/p>\n<p>Cherished in her words and dreams<\/p>\n<p>The sky smiled at her desire to fly<\/p>\n<p>Her boldness to utter \u2018why\u2019<\/p>\n<p>But Lord! Did it scare her mother!<\/p>\n<p>And apprehended her brother<\/p>\n<p>For it was dangerously dangerous<\/p>\n<p>And the threats were numerous<\/p>\n<p>It scared the people, it terrorized them<\/p>\n<p>How she questioned; that freedom\u2019s gem<\/p>\n<p>How she dared inquire onto the origins of their chains<\/p>\n<p>How could they recall all nature\u2019s claims?<\/p>\n<p>They were angered at the bounds<\/p>\n<p>But fools!
