I have again signed up for the insanity that is\u00a0<em>The Poetry Marathon\u00a0<\/em>(okay, half the insanity, since I\u2019m planning to do the 12-hour version\u2014so help me, I like sleep); this is my introduction.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Among my various roles and attributes, I am:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a self-published poet. I have published nine\u00a0collections so far; my latest,\u00a0<em>This Is Not the Book That Will Save Your Life<\/em>, came out in April 2017. I continue\u00a0to write every day, posting the best (or least horrible) of each day\u2019s poems on my blog,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ordinaryaveragethoughts.wordpress.com\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Ordinary Average Thoughts<\/em><\/a>.<em>\u00a0<\/em>Also, I regularly participate in several open mics in the Seattle area.<\/li>\n<li>a freelance copy editor. This is how I make most of the money I don\u2019t have. Fortunately, I have a background as a translator, because many\u00a0of the documents I edit originate countries where English is not the primary language\u00a0(e.g., Ethiopia, Malawi, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ukraine).<\/li>\n<li>a graphic designer. I don\u2019t do web\/UI\/UX design\/development,\u00a0but I have designed lots of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.behance.net\/gallery\/2589533\/Posters-(20092011)\" target=\"_blank\">posters<\/a>, done some\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.behance.net\/gallery\/4506417\/Publication-Design\" target=\"_blank\">magazine work<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/tintymusic.bandcamp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">album covers<\/a>, and (shameless self-promotion alert!) do book and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.behance.net\/gallery\/27731439\/Book-Cover-Design\" target=\"_blank\">cover<\/a>\u00a0design. (Needless to say, I do all my own book design.)<\/li>\n<li>a photographer. Not a professional photographer, but I have been taking photos since I was a kid. These days, I alternate between digital and Polaroids (at present, I&#8217;m in a digital phase).
