The Sleep of Lovers<\/p>\n<p>I lie besides you<\/p>\n<p>listening to your even breathing,<\/p>\n<p>as you sleep<\/p>\n<p>the lampshade illuminates one<\/p>\n<p>half of your beautiful face<\/p>\n<p>leaving the other half in silhouette.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My heart constricts<\/p>\n<p>out of sheer intense love I feel for you.<\/p>\n<p>My breath catches in my throat.<\/p>\n<p>I cannot take my eyes of you.<\/p>\n<p>After all these years<\/p>\n<p>you still have this effect on me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I want to reach over and caress you,<\/p>\n<p>kiss those slightly parted lips,<\/p>\n<p>embrace you in my arms.<\/p>\n<p>I hesitate&#8230;for fear of waking you.<\/p>\n<p>Subconsciously, you feel my intense gaze.<\/p>\n<p>Your sleepy expressive eyes open<\/p>\n<p>ever so slightly and focus on me.<\/p>\n<p>You smile and my heart lurches again<\/p>\n<p>in total love and adoration for you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I switch the lampshade off<\/p>\n<p>and we sleep in embrace,<\/p>\n<p>the blissful sleep of lovers in a cocoon of love.<\/p>\n<p>Anwar Suleman<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>7.
