They spoke to me in unity.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia. 1971.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I was adrift like<\/p>\n
the Alaska Ferry<\/p>\n
I now see in<\/p>\n
what would be<\/p>\n
blue sea and sky<\/p>\n
now gray as if<\/p>\n
hope is paralyzed.<\/p>\n
Smoke from fires<\/p>\n
far away, has drifted here.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I was soon to drift away.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Dave said, “Why haven’t you<\/p>\n
shared these albums with us?”<\/p>\n
As if I was hiding them.<\/p>\n
As if I knew more than a calling.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
As if I knew where I would go.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
All that I own is such naivety<\/p>\n
that I look for answers in songs<\/p>\n
and boats and eagles.<\/p>\n

All I could do was shrug my<\/p>\n
shoulders to Dave because<\/p>\n
it would be presumptuous<\/p>\n
to think I am more than a<\/p>\n
spec that listens to the mysterious<\/p>\n
yearnings that sometimes<\/p>\n
