{"id":33385,"date":"2017-08-05T12:37:35","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T16:37:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=33385"},"modified":"2017-08-05T12:37:35","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T16:37:35","slug":"hour-4-apple-and-peanut-butter-is-a-basic-comfort-food","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/hour-4-apple-and-peanut-butter-is-a-basic-comfort-food\/","title":{"rendered":"hour 4 Apple and Peanut Butter is a Basic Comfort Food"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>O4 2017 Poetry Marathon peanut butter and apple<br \/>\nprompt 4 stanza poem<\/p>\n<p>Apple and Peanut Butter is a Basic Comfort Food.<br \/>\nby Paul Sanford<\/p>\n<p>Apple and Peanut Butter is a basic comfort food.<br \/>\nTwist open the lid on the good stuff,<br \/>\nall peanuts with nothing added but a little salt.<br \/>\nThe healthy stuff as in the old days<br \/>\nwhen I was around people who cared about such stuff.<br \/>\nPour off the oil and put it in the refrigerator.<br \/>\nApple and Peanut Butter is a basic comfort food.<\/p>\n<p>Apple and Peanut Butter is a basic comfort food.<br \/>\nChoose a small apple,<br \/>\none you can get your mouth around and bite.<br \/>\nThese have a festive name, party or gala or Mardi Gras or whatever.<br \/>\nThey look kinda pink and yellow, but if you look closely<br \/>\nthey are a light golden green<br \/>\nwith streaks of red in various tones,<br \/>\ngiving it that party d\u00e9cor reflected in whatever the name is.<br \/>\nApple and Peanut Butter is a basic comfort food.<\/p>\n<p>Apple and Peanut Butter is a basic comfort food.<br \/>\nSome folks cut the apple into wedges,<br \/>\nscoop out the core and seeds<br \/>\nfill it with a scoop of peanut butter like a little boat.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s good for most folks, but seems like a lot of trouble<br \/>\nwhen what I want is a quick basic snack.<br \/>\nSomething to eat any time of day or night.<br \/>\nTwist off the inedible stem,<br \/>\nturn the apple over to show the remains of the flower,<br \/>\nApple and Peanut butter is a basic comfort food.<\/p>\n<p>Apple and Peanut Butter is a basic comfort food.<br \/>\nDig into the thick brown paste in the jar.<br \/>\n(If it\u2019s too thick, pour in a little oil to thin, and stir.)<br \/>\nYou want a nice thick paste to stick to the apple.<br \/>\nPut a big dab of peanut butter on the bottom of the apple.<br \/>\nTake a bite.<br \/>\nThe sweet wet apple mixes with the stiff paste<br \/>\nto make a crunchy and delicious mix of texture and flavor.<br \/>\nAdd  dabs of peanut paste and bite off chunks around the edges.<br \/>\nEat the core and all.
