\nShakespeare. Cervantes. No Voltaire. Moliere.
\nChaz Dickens hadn’t breathed and Ariel
\nhad not left Shelley’s corpse in Leghorn Bay.
\nLord Byron’s foot was not the club, his will,
\nstomping jealousy into the fair.
\nElizabeth and Robert weren’t ‘The Swell
\nand Portuguese’ that we still praise today.<\/p>\n
Now they’ve all come and gone and left behind
\njust scraps of what they said, pinned to the page.
\nOne day I’ll follow them. What will I leave?
\nJust pages of my own, unloved, unsigned?<\/p>\n
I hope to leave great stories. Plays to stage.
