You asked for me to write a song of me
\nAnd, humble, I could never think to be
\nSo bold, so arrogant – if even true;
\nBut this is me, and of me, just for you:<\/p>\n
I am a soulful one, depths fathomless
\nTo most, currents lost in my soul’s progress;
\nAnd, losing most in wand’ring through my life,
\nI find myself alone, sometimes in strife.<\/p>\n
And so, seeking to find a better way,
\nFarther from culture’s rules, I oft do stray.
\nI gain more satisfaction, still, than peers;
\nTend to stir, unwittingly, human fears<\/p>\n
And find myself at odds with consuetude,
\nExam’ning life’s and love’s true magnitude –
\nMy mind and heart swelling with all I’ve found:
\nThat love and life and beauty yet abound<\/p>\n
When willing parties but dismiss affray,
\nWhen expectations we dispel today,
\nWhen we let live and grow our hearts’ true bliss,
\nWhen we dispense the fear of two souls’ kiss.<\/p>\n
You asked for me to write a song of me;
\nAnd song I write, a soulful wish to free
\nMy heart, my mind from cloistered walls of time,
\nReleased into romantic seas, sublime!<\/p>\n
I love with all my heart and mind, it’s true;
\nA paradox of love: Many, and you –
\nAlways my heart and soul munificent,
\nThough I find yet a mind’s predicament:<\/p>\n
For, how is one to prove a love is true
\nWhen love is shared by many, not by two?
\nWhen love is bound by only truth and trust?
\nWhen love is love, and lust is merely lust?<\/p>\n
A poet’s words can fail when love is lost;
\nA lover’s words can fail, if you accost
\nHer alimony, disrespect her way;
\nSo, put aside all fear, let love allay<\/p>\n
An uninhib’ted life; let love be free:
\nI’ve found this truth to be most sensibly
\nThe depth at which I founded my own life;
