{"id":35204,"date":"2017-08-05T15:09:42","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T19:09:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=35204"},"modified":"2017-08-05T15:09:42","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T19:09:42","slug":"inside-out-upside-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/inside-out-upside-down\/","title":{"rendered":"Inside out, upside down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My heart bleeds,<\/p>\n<p>I can feel the blood running down my torso,<\/p>\n<p>between my breast like a waterfall of warm liquid.<\/p>\n<p>But I pull,<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em>I pull even harder.<\/p>\n<p>I can feel my pain,<\/p>\n<p>my crushing, self destructive pain<\/p>\n<p>But I ignore it<\/p>\n<p>And still I pull my heart out,<\/p>\n<p>and watch it<\/p>\n<p>where I threw it<\/p>\n<p>still throbbing in the mud of yesterday&#8217;s torrential rain,<\/p>\n<p>my heart still pulsating,<\/p>\n<p>bleeding in the mud<\/p>\n<p>and all that blood<\/p>\n<p>covers the memories of yesterday&#8217;s storm<\/p>\n<p>And then I see today<\/p>\n<p>my heart,<\/p>\n<p>I feel my empty shell<\/p>\n<p>doubled over in pain<\/p>\n<p>and I kneel down to retrieve my heart<\/p>\n<p>before the herd of dogs<\/p>\n<p>suddenly stands there with teeth bared<\/p>\n<p>And I want my heart back,<\/p>\n<p>my life,<\/p>\n<p>my hope ,<\/p>\n<p>my future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My heart bleeds, I can feel the blood running down my torso, between my breast like a waterfall of warm liquid.
