{"id":35411,"date":"2017-08-05T15:25:07","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T19:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=35411"},"modified":"2017-08-05T15:25:07","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T19:25:07","slug":"roses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/roses\/","title":{"rendered":"Roses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was walking through town<br \/>\nwhen something caught my eye.<br \/>\nA bouquet of roses<br \/>\nsat lonely on a trash can.<br \/>\nLeft out in the frigid air,<br \/>\na few petals had been browned.<br \/>\nBut wrapped so neatly,<br \/>\narranged with such care,<br \/>\nI couldn&#8217;t help but wonder,<br \/>\n&#8220;Why would someone leave them?&#8221;<br \/>\nPerhaps the owner came<br \/>\nto see a sweetheart true,<br \/>\nonly to find a world of heartbreak<br \/>\nand fled in pitiful sorrow.<br \/>\nPerhaps it was a meeting spot<br \/>\nand I was only there<br \/>\nin the middle of a story<br \/>\nnot there to see the end.<br \/>\nThat woman in black heels,<br \/>\nthe one across the street,<br \/>\nmay have wandered over<br \/>\nafter I had left in thought.<br \/>\nPerhaps that boy with shades<br \/>\nhad placed them on the bin<br \/>\nto wait for her and sing<br \/>\nher praises when she came.<br \/>\nI do not know their fate.<br \/>\nI do not know their tale.<br \/>\nBut I can make up stories<br \/>\nabout the roses I saw in town.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was walking through town when something caught my eye.
