{"id":35439,"date":"2017-08-05T15:42:51","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T19:42:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=35439"},"modified":"2021-06-26T11:33:41","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T15:33:41","slug":"dear-future-self","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/dear-future-self\/","title":{"rendered":"Dear Future Self (2017)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Future Self,<\/p>\n<p>How are we doing?<br \/>\nHave we accomplished great things?<br \/>\nDid we reach our dreams?<br \/>\nDid we graduate from the University?<br \/>\nDid we actually go for that double major?<br \/>\nHave we visited Rome?<br \/>\nHave we climbed the steps of Notre Dame?<br \/>\nDid we see the mountains of China?<br \/>\nDid we see the cherry blossoms of Japan?<br \/>\nAre we still friends with Kayla?<br \/>\nIs our family finally getting along?<br \/>\nAre we married now<br \/>\nwith a husband and child?<br \/>\nDid we ever publish<br \/>\nthat novel we were writing?<\/p>\n<p>So many more questions running through my mind,<br \/>\nbut right now I have something to say.<br \/>\nI hope we are happy.<br \/>\nI hope we still love superheroes and anime<br \/>\nand that we are still going to Comic Cons.<br \/>\nI hope we haven&#8217;t lost our love of imagination.<br \/>\nI hope we still love working with children and young people.<br \/>\nI hope we still love having fun now and then.<br \/>\nI hope we still go to movies at the drive-in<br \/>\nand go on long drives just because we can.<br \/>\nI hope we still think of epic fanfiction stories.<br \/>\nI hope we are still writing.<br \/>\nI hope we are still smiling each day<br \/>\nor at least as often as we can.<br \/>\nI hope we know that we are loved.<\/p>\n<p>Dear Future Self,<br \/>\nPlease know that I am still rooting for us.<br \/>\nI still have hope for us.<br \/>\nI still believe in us.<\/p>\n<p>Until the day our paths finally meet,<\/p>\n<p>Your Past Self<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Future Self, How are we doing?
