{"id":35951,"date":"2017-08-05T16:24:15","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T20:24:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=35951"},"modified":"2017-08-05T16:24:15","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T20:24:15","slug":"muse-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/muse-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Muse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some say that inspiration<br \/>\nis the work of muses in our heads.<br \/>\nMy muse is stubborn, obnoxious, dull.<br \/>\nHe throws about the papers<br \/>\nin the office of my brain.<br \/>\n&#8220;Give me inspiration!&#8221; I demand.<br \/>\nHe laughs and takes a nap.<br \/>\nI can&#8217;t be expected to do his job!<br \/>\nLook at how he&#8217;s wrecked them,<br \/>\nall my good ideas.<br \/>\nNow, never-finished stories sit<br \/>\n(I suspect he ate the ends).<br \/>\nWhen I put a pen to paper,<br \/>\nmy muse becomes quite riled.<br \/>\nHe snatches everything I might have used<br \/>\nand hides away in some deep cavern.<br \/>\nI think he must be minuscule<br \/>\nto do damage so tremendous.<br \/>\nHis hair is long and blue and spiky,<br \/>\nAnd his eyes a scheming green.<br \/>\nI asked for beauty, emerald forests,<br \/>\nInstead, he gives me this.<br \/>\nDoes his ego know no bounds!?<br \/>\nWhen will his antics cease!?<br \/>\nWell&#8230;<br \/>\nI guess the poem wasn&#8217;t bad&#8230;<br \/>\nBut he still won&#8217;t get a raise! <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some say that inspiration is the work of muses in our heads.
