{"id":36104,"date":"2017-08-05T17:31:17","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T21:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=36104"},"modified":"2017-08-05T17:31:17","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T21:31:17","slug":"on-turning-65","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/on-turning-65\/","title":{"rendered":"On Turning 65"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Frugal, frazzled, but certainly not retired,<\/p>\n<p>Turning 65 (alas) yields much to be admired.<\/p>\n<p>Now my Medicare bill (at $670 for half a year)<\/p>\n<p>No longer puts my monthly budget in arrears.<\/p>\n<p>Not that I could live 1\/4<sup>th<\/sup> as well at half that rate,<\/p>\n<p>Eating Ramen noodles and beans to compensate,<\/p>\n<p>Even with senior menus and lower motels rates<\/p>\n<p>And lesser drug prices for those who medicate.<\/p>\n<p>Moisturizer, eye-lifting serum, and colored hair,<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m still young enough that I should vainly care.<\/p>\n<p>With one foot in the grave (on a banana peel),<\/p>\n<p>Sure, I admit that I\u2019m more than half-way there.<\/p>\n<p>Aging, with dignity, I now will my wisdom dispense.<\/p>\n<p>Class of 1970 is holding a reunion to recompense.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Frugal, frazzled, but certainly not retired, Turning 65 (alas) yields much to be admired.
