I turned on the light<\/p>\n

And flinched at the sight of you.<\/p>\n

You are not ugly.<\/p>\n

I flinch anyway.<\/p>\n

Alone in the house,<\/p>\n

Alone but for you.<\/p>\n

In the place where I sleep.<\/p>\n

I take a tennis racket,<\/p>\n

never used in anger<\/p>\n

And try to encourage you<\/p>\n

to move from my bed,<\/p>\n

I need to sleep.<\/p>\n

You fall and as I try to catch you<\/p>\n

I squash you instead.<\/p>\n

I never meant to hurt you.<\/p>\n
