{"id":36502,"date":"2017-08-05T17:14:19","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T21:14:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=36502"},"modified":"2017-08-05T19:20:56","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T23:20:56","slug":"impulsive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/impulsive\/","title":{"rendered":"Poem 9: Impulsive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I saw a giant huntsman spider<br \/>\nperched in the middle of the wall<br \/>\njust underneath my dusty windowsill.<br \/>\nAnd without thinking, I quickly gathered up<br \/>\na physics textbook in my arms<br \/>\nand flung the entire brick of a book<br \/>\nacross the room at the windowsill.<br \/>\nUnfortunately, as a teenager<br \/>\nI was scrolling through Instagram on my phone<br \/>\nso I watched my five hundred dollar iPhone 7<br \/>\ntag along with my textbook for the ride<br \/>\nand fly in a perfect arc at the windowsill.<br \/>\nMy textbook obliterated the spider in one strike<br \/>\nleaving a blob of waxy yellowed guts<br \/>\nand all parts left of the spider corpse<br \/>\nbut my phone went flying outside<br \/>\nin the same continuous arc<br \/>\nand I realize that I forgot to close the window<br \/>\nmuch earlier this morning<br \/>\nwhich was how the spider probably got inside<br \/>\nand down beneath the windowsill.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I saw a giant huntsman spider perched in the middle of the wall just underneath my dusty windowsill.
