{"id":36598,"date":"2017-08-05T18:17:53","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T22:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=36598"},"modified":"2017-08-05T18:18:13","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T22:18:13","slug":"the-old-guy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/the-old-guy\/","title":{"rendered":"The Old Guy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When did he get here?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kind of round.<\/p>\n<p>Other guy was muscular but thinner.<\/p>\n<p>Hair\u2019s a little thin,<\/p>\n<p>Quite a bit of grey.<\/p>\n<p>Other guy had full, dark hair.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Other man was grouchy;<\/p>\n<p>This one\u2019s irascible.<\/p>\n<p>Other guy was a little anxious;<\/p>\n<p>This one worries all the time.<\/p>\n<p>Other man was compulsive;<\/p>\n<p>This one\u2019s obsessed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He brought so much stuff.<\/p>\n<p>He fidgets.<\/p>\n<p>Smacks and growls when he eats.<\/p>\n<p>Face folds over on his nose<\/p>\n<p>When he sleeps.<\/p>\n<p>He snores.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Drives me crazy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He has the other guy\u2019s eyes<\/p>\n<p>And his wry smile.<\/p>\n<p>Tells good stories,<\/p>\n<p>Just like the other man.<\/p>\n<p>Doesn\u2019t let me get away with stuff,<\/p>\n<p>Like fooling myself.<\/p>\n<p>Goes along with my crazy ideas<\/p>\n<p>Even when they scare him.<\/p>\n<p>He loves my sons.<\/p>\n<p>Seems comfortable here,<\/p>\n<p>Like he fits.<\/p>\n<p>Just like the other guy.<\/p>\n<p>He gets me.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ll let him stay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 When did he get here? &nbsp; Kind of round.
