{"id":36930,"date":"2017-08-05T17:50:59","date_gmt":"2017-08-05T21:50:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=36930"},"modified":"2017-08-05T17:51:57","modified_gmt":"2017-08-05T21:51:57","slug":"poem-9-8-legs-watching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/poem-9-8-legs-watching\/","title":{"rendered":"Poem 9 &#8211; 8 Legs Watching"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>8 Legs Watching<\/p>\n<p>Under the floorboards and in the attic,<br \/>\nDemon insects with hidden agendas,<br \/>\nCreeping out at night whilst you gently rest,<br \/>\nThe room is theirs whilst you\u2019re asleep.<\/p>\n<p>Spindly long legs with thin tickling hair,<br \/>\nMalevolently emerge from shadows and corners,<br \/>\nGliding swiftly across the wooden floor,<br \/>\nUp the bed leg and up on to the covers,<br \/>\nSoft sleuthing footsteps, till he reaches your still arm,<br \/>\nThat spider is closing in; he can feel your warm breath. <\/p>\n<p>He pauses a moment and imagines the terror,<br \/>\nOf you waking to see him, the fear in your eyes<br \/>\nHe towers besides you, mocking you dreaming he\u2019s in control.<br \/>\nOne more step on your neck and his breath on your face,<br \/>\nHis strokes your chin with that slithery long leg,<br \/>\nThe goosebumps rise up and you subconsciously know,<br \/>\nSomething is there watching you stir, with a jolt you awake,<br \/>\nHe runs for his life, back under the shadows and into the night. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>8 Legs Watching Under the floorboards and in the attic, Demon insects with hidden agendas, Creeping out at night whilst you gently rest, The room is theirs whilst you\u2019re asleep.
