{"id":38297,"date":"2017-08-05T20:49:13","date_gmt":"2017-08-06T00:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=38297"},"modified":"2017-08-05T20:49:13","modified_gmt":"2017-08-06T00:49:13","slug":"why-dogs-are-better-than-dates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/why-dogs-are-better-than-dates\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Dogs Are Better Than Dates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jaded a bit, I know.<br \/>\nCertainly there are benefits to human dates<br \/>\nNo dog can fulfill.<br \/>\nCertainly, no human date should ever feel<br \/>\nExpected to be my dog.<\/p>\n<p>Yet I sleep better with<br \/>\nComfort and company,<br \/>\nWarmth and breath, heartbeat and<br \/>\nDream dances.<\/p>\n<p>I sleep best when there is no room for<br \/>\nDoubt of waking with me<br \/>\nGlad to start our day with a few<br \/>\nSloppy kisses.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s face it, I\u2019m a bitch:<br \/>\nMother and pack leader,<br \/>\nWarrior, provider, teacher and always<br \/>\nGentle if, if, if<br \/>\nIf you build no pressure against my<br \/>\nSovereignty or pups.<\/p>\n<p>This is frictionless to my dogs, and I am<br \/>\nSafe as myself among them.<\/p>\n<p>You might not understand I\u2019m<br \/>\nHappy to share power and instead think my<br \/>\nRoyalty must be your<br \/>\nDiminishment, which wouldn\u2019t<br \/>\nWork out well, even if the<br \/>\nLust distracts us awhile.<\/p>\n<p>So dogs are better than dates, though that\u2019s<br \/>\nJaded a bit, I know.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Jaded a bit, I know.
