I always wanted<\/p>\n

to ride into town,<\/p>\n

point my Colt .44<\/p>\n

down the street,<\/p>\n

fire off some rounds over the heads<\/p>\n

of strangers and friends.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Bulbs burn bright red,<\/p>\n

inviting patrons<\/p>\n

up the steep steps where<\/p>\n

the red-haired girl waves<\/p>\n

from the top stair,<\/p>\n

saying good-bye to the dreams<\/p>\n

she could never quite imagine.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The bullet hole in the mirror<\/p>\n

would like to tell a story,<\/p>\n

but reflects only the misery<\/p>\n

in his gray eyes, as I wheel<\/p>\n

my Strawberry Roan<\/p>\n

around on his heels,<\/p>\n

Dodge gunfire<\/p>\n
