\nLaw of Attraction<\/p>\n
You jumped from your roof because you’d decided
\nthat the law of attraction cancelled out the law of gravity.
\nSome kind of mental breakdown triggered by a spiritual awakening
\nwhen you couldn’t handle the responsibility.<\/p>\n
My dear dizzy head, my collapsed-lung complacent patient,
\nfighting with yourself.
\nYou hit the ground hard and said you’d hurt your foot,
\nI imagined a world in which you flew.
\nYou’d have drifted down slowly and maybe found some validation
\nsome reassurance that you’re here for a purpose.
\nMy purposeful proposition that maybe there’s a method
\nto our manias and madness,
\nhow they coincide so intricately.<\/p>\n
I bruised my foot that same day, felt human in the same way,
\nbut you’ll never understand or believe
\nthat there is more to things than logic or science.
\nYour defiance of something greater than us is a paradox,
\nyou, named after a man in the bible.
\nDiving into books and documentaries trying to pull apart the
\nsecrets of the universe, to make sense of it,
\nto make it something palpable, fathomable, controllable,
\nso that you didn’t feel so overwhelmed,
\nand disconnected.<\/p>\n
It’s apparent that I evoke some insanity within you,
\nthat turns itself over and over until it’s sanded down
\nstripped
\npolished
\nall detail erased and forgotten.
\nThe law of attraction isn’t what shoved you toward me,
\nthe universe reached a hand down and soothed the
\nblistering wound in your chest
\ngave you a moment to rest and consider
\nthat there’s something bigger
\nmeant for you.<\/p>\n
You’ll keep running from things you can’t control
\npointing fingers at anyone that threatens your detachment.
\nMy foot still hurts from that day
\nand I take it as a lesson.
\nLoving someone scares you more than dying;
\nMore than the law of gravity becoming obsolete.
