{"id":39216,"date":"2017-08-05T22:29:43","date_gmt":"2017-08-06T02:29:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=39216"},"modified":"2017-08-05T22:29:43","modified_gmt":"2017-08-06T02:29:43","slug":"13-a-rule-of-earth-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/13-a-rule-of-earth-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"#13 A Rule of Earth Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The children worked and tilled the soil,<\/p>\n<p>they had to do the work and toil,<\/p>\n<p>they did the jobs and got the pay.<\/p>\n<p>It wouldn&#8217;t always be that way.<\/p>\n<p>Upon their eighteenth year on earth,<\/p>\n<p>they had earned what they were worth.<\/p>\n<p>It was then that they retired,<\/p>\n<p>some other child would then be hired.<\/p>\n<p>The adults they then were left to play,<\/p>\n<p>do as they wished with friends all day.<\/p>\n<p>When babies came the children got,<\/p>\n<p>to teach them things that they&#8217;d been taught.<\/p>\n<p>The adults drank cocktails by the pool,<\/p>\n<p>there was no time for going to school.<\/p>\n<p>The kids made sure their folks were fed,<\/p>\n<p>never grumbled about going to bed.<\/p>\n<p>After this single switch occurred,<\/p>\n<p>little grumbling was ever heard.<\/p>\n<p>The grown-ups knew they had it good,<\/p>\n<p>the kids knew someday soon they would.<\/p>\n<p>The previous rules had all been wrong,<\/p>\n<p>keeping adults at work too long,<\/p>\n<p>while they had longed to simply be<\/p>\n<p>able to be wild and free.<\/p>\n<p>The choice had come to try to see,<\/p>\n<p>if all the youthful energy,<\/p>\n<p>could help the world efficiently run,<\/p>\n<p>while preserving most of life for fun.<\/p>\n<p>After just one generation,<\/p>\n<p>there was a real United Nation,<\/p>\n<p>nobody cared or really knew about the &#8220;Great Switcheroo&#8221;,<\/p>\n<p>It simply was the way things are.<\/p>\n<p>Peace on earth had come that far!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The children worked and tilled the soil, they had to do the work and toil, they did the jobs and got the pay.
