Or even pettier<\/p>\n
Just to avoid court letters<\/p>\n
For 6, or 8, or any o’clock<\/p>\n
Simple method though, this sand bread<\/p>\n
Easy ingredients and large enough to fill<\/p>\n
The mouths of many, so families<\/p>\n
Can work and be healthy<\/p>\n
And share bread at no demand of the clock<\/p>\n
They skipped meals, I know they did<\/p>\n
And they would send their kids to school without any bread<\/p>\n
No, not the ones in Tunisia<\/p>\n
The ones in Chicago<\/p>\n
Pricey shoes but no food<\/p>\n
And we could compare sand bread<\/p>\n
Simple ingredients<\/p>\n
But the same comparison still<\/p>\n
No one would let you bake it here<\/p>\n
No not here<\/p>\n
And the families with kids who have shoes and no food<\/p>\n
The system keeps it simple<\/p>\n
Keeps it simple<\/p>\n
Do one thing without the other and have the roof over your head<\/p>\n
Let your child suffer a while and eventually you’ll all be fed<\/p>\n
But just like sand bread<\/p>\n
Those grains baked into the growing flour<\/p>\n
Have to be beaten out<\/p>\n
By knocks on doors and reality bruises<\/p>\n
Something wonder bread kids live without<\/p>\n
But do you know how many ingredients are in wonder bread?<\/p>\n
The exact opposite of simple<\/p>\n
And those kids spend the rest of their lives doing too much<\/p>\n
Thinking they are getting ahead and exhausting every extreme<\/p>\n
Never seeing the simple joys<\/p>\n
Of flour, oil, and salt<\/p>\n
A different sort of clock<\/p>\n
The time it takes to bake the bread is the time it needs<\/p>\n
No one lives within their means<\/p>\n
And the systematic racism keeps the time from being<\/p>\n
