The road home is dusty,<\/p>\n
and along the way,<\/p>\n
lives a horrible woman<\/p>\n
I must pass everyday.<\/p>\n
My dog is my best friend,<\/p>\n
who brightens my day,<\/p>\n
my witch of a neighbor tried to take him away.<\/p>\n
He returned swiftly,<\/p>\n
yet I know she’ll be back,<\/p>\n
so hastily I tossed some things in a pack.<\/p>\n
While life’s storms can knock us down,<\/p>\n
might be right around the bend,<\/p>\n
brighter days may be beyond it,<\/p>\n
perhaps a stranger becomes a friend.<\/p>\n
Not all roads are dusty,<\/p>\n
and we can learn along the way,<\/p>\n
that the color lives inside us,<\/p>\n
it’s just our filter that is gray.<\/p>\n
Though our lives have many chapters,<\/p>\n
it’s finding strength when we feel weak,<\/p>\n
that can help us better understand<\/p>\n
that our past was really not that bleak.<\/p>\n
We learn from knowing others<\/p>\n
that everyone has things they lack.<\/p>\n
One can’t just run away from problems,<\/p>\n
Aunt Em, I’m coming back!<\/p>\n
