first day of school.<\/span><\/p>\n

Strangers,<\/span><\/p>\n

A strange place.<\/span><\/p>\n

What adventures await her?<\/span><\/p>\n

Who will be her friends?<\/span><\/p>\n

Will they like her?<\/span><\/p>\n

Will she like them?<\/span><\/p>\n

What if she forgets their names?<\/span><\/p>\n

What if she can\u2019t remember how to write her own name?<\/span><\/p>\n

What if she gets lost walking home?<\/span><\/p>\n

Will someone find her and tell her<\/span><\/p>\n

she was missed,<\/span><\/p>\n

is loved?<\/span><\/p>\n

She peers into<\/span><\/p>\n

the mirror<\/span><\/p>\n

straining to see her reflection:<\/span><\/p>\n

her white hair combed,<\/span><\/p>\n

her favorite sweater,<\/span><\/p>\n

orthopedic shoes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ready to start her<\/span><\/p>\n

first day of geriatric care.<\/span><\/p>\n

What happened to the old days?<\/span><\/p>\n

Where are her friends?<\/span><\/p>\n

Do they remember her?<\/span><\/p>\n
