{"id":41195,"date":"2017-08-06T03:37:40","date_gmt":"2017-08-06T07:37:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=41195"},"modified":"2017-08-06T03:37:40","modified_gmt":"2017-08-06T07:37:40","slug":"hour-nineteen-a-poem-in-space","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/hour-nineteen-a-poem-in-space\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour Nineteen, a poem in space"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Man in the Moon<\/p>\n<p>He:<\/p>\n<p>They left me behind,<br \/>\nthe mining and exploration crew,<br \/>\nassuming my death in a cave-in<br \/>\nand taking their projected<br \/>\nwindow of opportunity<br \/>\nto get home again.<br \/>\nI found my way through<br \/>\ntunnels to the site of another<br \/>\ngroup, and another lost soul.<\/p>\n<p>She:<\/p>\n<p>I, too, was left behind<br \/>\nmy mission of scientific exploration<br \/>\ncut short in choking black dust.<br \/>\nI groped my way through<br \/>\nthe deepest dark I&#8217;ve ever known<br \/>\nuntil I saw a light, and a face<br \/>\na man, alive like me.<\/p>\n<p>They:<\/p>\n<p>The two missions combined<br \/>\nin the face of their deaths<br \/>\nto return and collect their bodies,<br \/>\nfinding two that had somehow<br \/>\nfound one another, hand in hand<br \/>\nbeneath the surface, bound<br \/>\nfor eternity within the moon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Man in the Moon He: They left me behind, the mining and exploration crew, assuming my death in a cave-in and taking their projected window of opportunity to get home again.
