I clipped my nails<\/p>\n

outside on the patio<\/p>\n

as was my practice<\/p>\n

where flagstone would catch them<\/p>\n

and dust to dust<\/p>\n

would return to the earth<\/p>\n

some of my molecules<\/p>\n

preceding the larger wholeness of me<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I brushed my jeans<\/p>\n

checked my shoes<\/p>\n

and saw them<\/p>\n

moving<\/p>\n

ants in a line<\/p>\n

carrying my nail<\/p>\n

precious gift from the sky god<\/p>\n

tusk-like crescent to their tiny frames<\/p>\n

ants lifting<\/p>\n

succeeding<\/p>\n

moving<\/p>\n

coordinated<\/p>\n

toward a crack in the flagstone<\/p>\n

soon to descend into<\/p>\n

Ant-land<\/p>\n

my fingernail<\/p>\n

cast away<\/p>\n

to be revered<\/p>\n

treasured raw material<\/p>\n

to be made use of<\/p>\n

for what I leave behind<\/em><\/p>\n

to be made use of<\/em><\/p>\n

is all that I can ask<\/p>\n
