Today, I read<\/p>\n
Of bodies long fallen<\/p>\n
Into icy graves.<\/p>\n
Undisturbed for decades,<\/p>\n
Unseen until now.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Yet another by-effect<\/p>\n
Of global warming<\/p>\n
Lays bare the consequence<\/p>\n
Of our ambition,<\/p>\n
And folly.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The dire onslaught<\/p>\n
Of climate change<\/p>\n
Imperils our finite earth,<\/p>\n
Opening it<\/p>\n
To the inevitability of destruction.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
And yet, it brings closure.<\/p>\n
To families and descendants<\/p>\n
Of the lost and perished.<\/p>\n
Their cold fate finally known.<\/p>\n
Markers to their resting place.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
To the intrepid deceased,<\/p>\n
And our dying world,<\/p>\n
I can only say<\/p>\n
May you, and we,<\/p>\n
All rest in peace.<\/p>\n
